What Has Bindi Irwin Been up to Since Her Fathers Death?

Bindi Irwin

The world mourned the death of Steve Irwin –The Crocodile Hunter – following his death in 2006 after being stung by the barb of a stingray filming a show. Aside from the fact that the world really did love and respect the man who was so into conserving wildlife and taking on adventures into the lives of creatures we might not otherwise know much about, it was the fact that he left behind small children after his death, as well as his wife. One of those children was a little girl who was only 8-years-old at the time of her father’s death. Bindi Irwin had appeared beside her father several times on television and she’d made it her mission to take over her father’s life work long before he passed on. It was her emotional, eloquent and beautiful speech at his funeral that made the entire world fall even more in love with this little girl, who is still taking after her father in every possible way. In the more than 8 years since the death of her father, Bindi Irwin has been a busy girl. Find out what the special daughter of the world’s favorite animal-lover has been up to.

She’s an Actress

The sweet girl who so misses her father and made the world cry at his funeral is a bona fide movie star. She appeared in the 2010 adaptation of Free Willy and she had a role in Return to Nim’s Island. She’s been very busy since her father’s death. Her fans are very impressed by her real talent in front of the camera.

She Won a Daytime Emmy

That’s right, folks. At the tender age of just 9, Bindi Irwin won a Daytime Emmy award. That’s an award that most people only hope to take home at some point in their lives. And not only did Irwin win, she made history for being the youngest person ever to win one.

Her Speech at Her Father’s Funeral Was Voted Television Moment of the Year

This was especially touching given the fact that her mother stated that Bindi wrote the eulogy she spoke for her father all on her own. The only thing she did was ask for a few spelling words and some help with the typing of the eulogy.
